How to get there
Anna and George were childhood friends and almost young lovers living in New York near the end of the Gilded Age. Fourteen years later, they meet again in London; Anna now a widow with an adult step-son, an eight-year-old daughter, and a suffocating mother-in-law living together in an empty chateau in the countryside of France. On his way to join Anna there and make her his wife, George spends a detour of a few days in Paris with a young aspiring actress who momentarily captures his attention. The consequences of this tryst find him months later, like ripples of water that have turned, over time, into deadly waves.
The Reef produced by Rhododendron Theater Productions is the world's first stage adaptation of Pullitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton's classic novel of the same name. It is a play about love and happiness, directed by Matthew Balam and performed by Marie Prevost, Matthew Balam, Taylor Rae-Anne, Jordan Van Haften, Hannah Cafarella, Eric Newell, and Joan Prinz.
